For the application in custom specific ICs, Prema Semiconductor GmbH has designed the high voltage operational amplifier OP601VHV for supply voltages of up to ±60V or up to 120V single supply. The common mode input voltage covers nearly the complete supply voltage range with a very good common mode and power supply rejection ratio of more than 110dB. The output voltage can approximate the positive or negative supply voltage as close as 1V.
The temperature increase of the component remains small in spite of the high voltages due to the quiescent current of 180µA. Fast control circuits may be designed with this OP601VHV due to the gain bandwidth product of up to 3.5MHz and a slew rate of nearly 4V/µs.
The high voltage operational amplifier OP601VHV has been developed and produced with the enhanced semiconductor process ModuS U6 by the ASIC specialist PREMA Semiconductor.
The OP601VHV can be used e.g. in a motor control circuit with current sensing using a shunt resistor at high potential. The wide common mode input range allows high impedance measurements of small differential voltages at high potentials, e.g. in Wheatstone bridges. Actors using higher voltages can be driven directly by the ASIC.
For the design of high voltage ASICs, Prema offers linear regulators, step-down converters and several output drivers. Several externally connected components can be saved because high voltage transistors and resistors can be integrated now into the ASIC.
