The Workshop for Women in Design Automation (WWINDA), part of the 44th Design Automation Conference (DAC) to be held in San Diego, California, June 4 - 8, 2007, announced that its student sponsorship program will enable graduate students to attend the workshop and DAC thanks to the generous support of key members of the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) community. These sponsorships cover travel and workshop registration, and have been awarded to six graduate students in electrical engineering, computer science, and computer engineering from U.C. Berkeley, U.C. San Diego, University of Pittsburgh, and Stanford.

The WWINDA student sponsorship supporters include Cadence Design Systems, EDA Confidential, Magma Design Automation and Mentor Graphics. The annual Workshop for Women in Design Automation, held during DAC, is a professional development event for women in the EDA field. Addressing the particular needs of these women, it serves as a forum to exchange ideas for building a successful career within the profession and offers an opportunity for peer-to-peer networking. An address by the yearly recipient of the Marie R. Pistilli Women in EDA Award is part of the program, as is a keynote by a highly visible woman from within the industry. A panel made up of successful role models to discuss a relevant and timely topic rounds out the agenda. The Workshop for Women in Design Automation (WWINDA) is open to all electronics and design automation professionals.
