Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has expanded its series of Flash microcontrollers with a device that integrates a 16-bit core, 128kbytes Flash, 12kbytes RAM and a variety of peripherals and interfaces in a 64-pin package measuring 10mm2. Based on Toshiba’s 16-bit TLCS-900/L1 processor core, the TMP91FW27UG features on-board micro DMA controller and accommodates external memory expansion for programs and data up to 16Mbytes.
The microcontroller incorporates a 10-bit ADC, an I2C interface, IrDA connectivity and a general-purpose serial interface offering UART and synchronous mode capabilities. On-board timer functionality comprises a six-channel eight-bit timer, a single-channel 16-bit timer and a watchdog timer. In addition to the Flash and RAM, the microcontroller also offers 4kbyte of mask ROM for booting.
The device operates at speeds to 27MHz for minimum instruction execution times of 148ns, and will work with input voltages from 2.7V to 3.6V. Typical power consumption is rated at 13mA in normal mode (3.3V, 27MHz) and just 20μA in slow mode (3.3V, 32kHz). Further reductions in system power requirements are provide via three different ‘halt’ modes for flexible configuration of standby operation.
