24-port GbE ATCA base switch blade 17-11-10

Adlink Technology announced the debut of the aTCA-3150, a 24-port GbE AdvancedTCA (ATCA) Multilayer Base Switch Blade based on Broadcom BCM56312 switch silicon. It supports up to thirteen GbE ports for a 14-slot PICMG 3.0 ATCA system, with six egress GbE ports and two 10GbE SFP+ uplink ports via front panel access. The ADLINK aTCA-3150 incorporates Broadcom's FASTPATH® networking software and is designed for ATCA adopters (NEPs & TEMs) who require AMC modularity, Gigabit layer 3 switching, a scalable control-plane engine and high-availability Base Interface.

The aTCA-3150 is ideal for ATCA platform adopters who require high speed and high bandwidth data transport interconnects for packet switching and highly flexible external I/O access. It meets the bandwidth-intensive switching requirements for applications such as IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) servers, media gateways, 3G wireless, network monitoring, Unified Threat Management servers, packet inspection servers and enterprise media servers.

Networking Software

The board is equipped with Broadcom's FASTPATH networking software. The extensive feature set and integration capabilities of FASTPATH enables powerful networking capabilities for the Base Interface. It also assists hardware in switching frames and provides comprehensive device management to the network administrator. It takes advantage of Broadcom BCM56312 switch silicon which supports features such as 802.1Q-2005 Virtual LANs with port-based VLANs, IEEE 802.3ac VLAN tagging, IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation, 802.1D-2004 Spanning Tree, RFC 4541 IGMP snooping, and port mirroring.

The aTCA-3150 also includes FASTPATH's management module to provide VLAN, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, SSH 1.5 and 2.0, secure FTP and Telnet. The aTCA-3150 equipped with FASTPATH enables equipment manufacturers to deliver professional-grade features such as VoIP and security at affordable price points for the small-to-medium-sized business (SMB) market.

Processing Sub-system and AMC bays for flexible expansion

The aTCA-3150 provides a COM ExpressT Type 2 site for expansion with a processing sub-system, allowing users to tailor processing power to application demands. In addition, two mid-sized AMC bays for I/O expansion are also supported to suit the needs of different applications. Base Interface and the Freescale Control Plane Enable Complicated Switch Communications. The aTCA-3150 provides 10/100/1000Base-TX GbE and layer 3 switching on Base Interface with support for 14-slot shelves.

It offers six front panel RJ-45 egress Gigabit Ethernet copper ports plus two 10Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ optical uplink ports in connection with the Base Interface domain. The aTCA-3150's switch blade design incorporates a Freescale MPC8313E PowerQUICC II Pro 333MHz processor for local management functions. This processor is used for managing the BCM56312 GbE switch and for hosting the FASTPATH networking software switching and management modules.
