Analog Devices announced expanded roles for Vice Presidents Robert McAdam and Vincent Roche, as part of an organizational change. Vice President Robbie McAdam leads the Core Products and Technologies (CPT) group, which focuses on converters and amplifiers, RF (radio frequency), power, MEMS (micro-electromechanical systems), and DSP (digital signal processing) products. Vice President Vincent Roche leads the new Strategic Market Segments (SMS) group, which focuses on integrating ADI technology into solutions for automotive, industrial, medical, consumer, and communications infrastructure customers. Roche also is responsible for the Worldwide Sales organization.
McAdam has served as vice president of the Analog Semiconductor Division since 1999 and has been the vice president responsible for ADI's analog technology since 1994, including the data converter and amplifier products. He joined Analog Devices in 1984 as a marketing manager in Limerick, Ireland, advancing to product line director and general manager over the next 10 years. Before joining ADI, he served as European marketing manager for General Electric's semiconductor division.
Vincent Roche has served as vice president of Worldwide Sales for ADI since 2002. In this role, he was responsible for direct customer sales, distribution, and e-commerce for all product lines, as well as corporate marketing and public relations. Mr. Roche began his career at ADI in 1988 as a senior marketing engineer in Limerick, Ireland. Over the next several years he created and managed analog businesses. In 1994, he moved to the U.S. to run ADI's San Jose, California, operations.
New head of the automotive group
The company also announced that Thomas Wessel has been named to lead the company’s automotive group. Formerly ADI’s vice president of Sales for the European region, Wessel oversees the teams that deliver the solutions, technologies and technical support to help automotive customers solve complex design challenges. He has more than 15 years of experience supporting electronics customers worldwide.
Wessel joined Analog Devices in 2003 and first served as regional sales director for central Europe. In 2005, he was appointed sales director for Europe–and later vice president for sales Europe. In addition to his regional sales role, he had responsibility for global automotive sales since January 2009.
New chief for industrial and instrumentation and healthcare group
Analog Devices announced furthermore the appointment of three new vice presidents. The promotions are part of the company’s recent decision to form two new business groups, the Core Products and Technologies (CPT) group, dedicated to delivering the products and technologies engineers need to solve today’s complex design challenges, and the Strategic Market Segments (SMS) group, focused on applying these technologies to target markets where system-level signal processing innovation enables a competitive advantage.
ADI promoted Michael Britchfield to vice president for the Industrial and Instrumentation group and Patrick O’Doherty to vice president for the Healthcare group. Both will report to company officer Vincent Roche.
Britchfield oversees the teams dedicated to the following areas: instrumentation, process control, motor control, defense/aerospace, ATE (automated test equipment), security and surveillance, and building automation. A new energy team also has been formed to address the growing technology needs for electric utility metering, powerline monitoring, and emerging applications, such as solar/wind generation, energy storage, energy harvesting, lighting control and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Britchfield has directed strategy development, engineering, product definition, and marketing activities for the company’s high-precision data conversion portfolio with a particular focus on industrial and instrumentation applications. Since joining ADI in 1986, Mr. Britchfield also has held marketing positions in Ireland and Germany.
Most recently, Pat O’Doherty served as Healthcare segment director at ADI. Since joining the company in 1981, he has held a number of roles in engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and product line management with responsibility for core analog products and ASSPs (application-specific standard products).
New head of analog technology
Additionally, David Robertson has been promoted to vice president of Analog Technology, reporting to company officers Sam Fuller, chief technology officer, and Vice President Robbie McAdam, who leads the new CPT group. Robertson joined ADI in 1985 and has worked on high-speed converter product design in a variety of process technologies, including complementary bipolar, BiCMOS, and submicron CMOS. Previously, as product line director for the High-Speed Signal Processing business unit, Mr. Robertson directed both core converter development and the mixed-signal product strategy focusing on broadband communications applications.
Robertson has served on the Technical Program Committee for the ISSCC (International Solid States Circuits Conference) since 1999 and has served as chair of the Analog/Data Converter subcommittee from 2003 through 2009. He is an active member of ISTAC (Information Systems Technical Advisory Committee), a joint committee of industry and government members working to advise on technology export controls.
