The Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Consortium has appointed Simon Segars, ARM Executive Vice President and General Manager, Physical IP Division, to its board of directors to serve the organization through the spring of 2012. Segars joined the ARM board in January 2005 and was appointed EVP and General Manager of the Physical IP Division in September 2007. He has previously been EVP, Engineering, EVP, Worldwide Sales and latterly EVP, Business Development.
He joined ARM in early 1991 and has worked on many of the ARM CPU products since then. He led the development of the ARM7 and ARM9 Thumb families. He holds a number of patents in the field of embedded CPU architectures and serves on the SOI Industry Consortium board. The EDA Consortium is the international association of companies that provide design tools and services that enable engineers to create the world’s electronic products used for communications, computer, space technology, medical, automotive, industrial equipment, and consumer electronics markets among others.
