The semiconductor distributor Avnet Memec has drawn a balance of the development over the past 5 years. According to this, the company has increased the number of its key customers from 390 to 942. The business volume has doubled from 104 million Euro per annum to 212 million Euro in the business year 2010. According to its own information, Avnet Memec is aiming for an annual turnover of 300 million Euro.
This corresponds for the time period 2007 to 2011 to a market growth rate of 42%. According to Steve Haynes, President Avnet Memec, the alignment to vertical markets is the reason for the success.
In the past six months Avnet Memec has extended some distribution agreements: e.g. with Microsemi for power RF solutions, analogue and mixed-signal products for industrial automation products with Renesas and for embedded wireless modules with Sierra Wireless. In addition Avnet Memec was able to increase its portfolio with Antennas for M2M and telematic solutions of Smarteq, the network production for energy controls from Echelon as well as the energy-saving GPS systems from Leadtek.
