CCD Camera achieves 200 fps 01-03-07

The CCD Camera Prosilica (sales: Rauscher) recently released its fasted CCD camera yet. The GE680 runs 200-plus frames per second at VGA resolution and even faster at lower resolutions - up to 1500 fps when using a 25x25 region-of-interest. The GE680’s gigabit Ethernet interface is capable of sustained data rates of 125 megabytes per second. As with all of Prosilica’s Gigabit Ethernet cameras, the GE680 complies with the AIA GigE Vision interface standard making it particularly easy to integrate into real world applications.

Prosilica's Gigabit Ethernet cameras operate over standard Cat5e Ethernet cable of lengths up to 100 meters long. Much longer distances are also possible with the use of off-the-shelf Gigabit Ethernet switches or with the use of fiber optics. The GE680 is suitable for a wide range of applications in machine vision, industrial inspection, test and measurement, motion capture, as well as traffic and public security. Machine vision features include a high-performance progressive scan CCD sensor with global/snapshot shutter, external trigger and sync, general purpose I/O, region of interest readout, etc.

There are also frame rate controls, auto and fixed exposure controls, extensive binning modes, multi-camera synchronization, and much more. The GE680 is available in monochrome or color models. The color models have various output formats including direct RGB color interpolation that minimizes CPU load on the host computer. The GE680 is the latest GigE Vision based CCD camera from industry leader Prosilica Inc. The high frame rates combined with the great CCD image quality make the GE680 quite a unique camera.
