C&D Technologies, a producer of standby power systems, announced financial results for the fiscal 2008 fourth quarter and full year ended January 31, 2008. For the quarter, the Company reported a consolidated net loss of $10.3 million compared to a net loss of $14.3 million in the prior year's fourth quarter. Net loss from discontinued operations was $4.1 million compared to $2.6 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007. These results reflect the operations of the Motive Power Division during the manufacturing transition period that lasted through the end of December, as well as additional impairment charges of approximately $1.5 million recognized in the quarter. The sale of both the Motive Power and Power Electronics Divisions are now complete.
Fourth quarter revenues for continuing operations were $94.5 million, up 23.1% compared to $76.8 million in the prior year's fourth quarter and up approximately 3.5% sequentially from the third quarter of fiscal 2008. For the year, the Company reported a consolidated net loss of $18.5 million compared to a net loss of $42.7 million in the fiscal 2007. Net loss from continuing operations was $2.2 million for the current year, compared to $13.9 million in fiscal 2007. Net loss from discontinued operations was $16.4 million.
