According to the FBDi e.V., the German components distribution market achieved a turnover of 647 m Euro in the 1st quarter of 2008. This corresponds to a decline of 9.9% compared to Q1/2007 and applies to all European regions with the exception of Eastern Europe. The main elements affected by the decline are the passive modules. These suffered a decline in sales of 14.2% so that their turnover was reduced to 93 m Euro. Semiconductors, with 71% have the biggest share of the market. Their turnover declined by 9.9% to 459 m Euro.
The turnover of electro-mechanical components sank by 9.3% to 75 m Euro. However, the turnover of Displays grew by 9.4% and those of power supplies by 16.7%, even though their contributions to the overall results were small in comparison. The Book-to-Bill-Rate was 1.07 for semiconductors and electro-mechanicals and 1.01 for displays and powers supplies. The passive components were somewhat reduced with 0.99.
The FBDi e.V. comprises 24 component distributors as members as well as some modules manufactures as development members.
