Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe announces the MB91F487; the first member of a series within its 32-bit FR microcontroller family. The MB91480 series is optimised for industrial and home appliance 3-phase motor control and offers a rich feature mix designed to target applications in these markets. The MB91F487 integrates three fast (1.2µs) 10-bit A/D converters, providing 18 channels that allow measurement of motor parameters and other sensor information. Together with two multi-function timers and PWM (pulse width modulation) units, the device offers a single-chip solution for applications which require control of two 3-phase motors.
Fujitsu’s 32-bit RISC core, which operates at a clock frequency of 80MHz, is accompanied by an independent μDSP unit, supporting digital signal processing such as FIR (Finite Impulse Response) or IIR (Infinite Impulse Response) filtering. This co-processor features dedicated instruction, coefficient and variable memory, and can execute a 32-bits x 32-bits + 72 bits calculation in one machine cycle (12.5ns) in parallel to the CPU. Other features include two 16-bit reload timers, 3 USARTs with SPI and I²C functionality, timebase and a watchdog timer. On-chip pre-fetch and 5 channels of DMA are included to ensure best possible performance. The device covers a supply voltage range from 4.0 to 5.5V and a temperature range of -40 to +85°C. Housed in a 100-pin LQFP package, the MB91F487 features 512kB embedded flash memory and 32kB RAM.
