Nikko Materials offers the TRCF (Treated Rolled Copper Foil) product, that is now available to European producers of flexible copper laminates (Subsidiary in Germany: Gould Electronics). TRCF combines the high ductility and flexibility as well as the very low surface profile of rolled copper with the peel strength enhancement provided by an electrolytically deposited alloy treatment. Typical applications for TRCF are flexible circuitries in the hinge area of clam shell type cell phones and laptop computers or in the read/write unit of a data storage drive. More examples for the use of TRCF can be found in the areas of audio- and video technology, automotive, aerospace, medical technology, sensor measurement and control technology as well as in telecommunication. In particular, high frequency applications in the telecom infrastructure benefit from the low roughness (Rz <0,73µm) of rolled copper in regard to signal speed, integrity and dielectric losses. The treatment offers good adhesion to standard polymer films like PI, PET or PE. TRCF is available in standard thicknesses of 12µm and 70µm with black treatment (Cu-Ni-Co) in widths of 520mm to 800mm. Other thickness and treatments are avail-able upon request. TRCF has low profile for HF- and HDI-applications and is suitable for adhesive-less flex laminates.
