Crystal oscillator for wireless base stations 04-07-11

MSC offers the MD-023 Extended Holdover Crystal Oscillator (EHXO) from Vectron International. The device was specifically designed for use in wireless base stations. Frequency temperature stability of the MD-023 is 0.1 ppb over the temperature range of 0°C to +70°C and phase noise, depending on frequency offset, is -125 dBc/Hz at 100 Hz offset and -145 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset. The device also achieves an aging of maximum 0.08 ppb/day.

The MD-023 ensures precision timing even when GPS is susceptible to urban canyon effects or intermittent jamming, where high traffic levels make network derived timing unavailable or where the external source of timing is otherwise compromised. The oscillator is capable of providing holdover precision of 6 µs for 24 hours over a 10°C temperature change.

The device comes in a 3" x 3" x 1" (7.62 cm x 7.62 cm x 2.54 cm) package and communication with the outside world is achieved via a serial communications interface.
