Vacuumschmelze presents its high-precision current sensor family at this year’s electronica. Type T60404-N4646-X654 measures maximum effective continuous current up to 50 A and peaks of up to +150 A. The dimensions of the sensor housing are an 22.2 mm x 10 mm x 24 mm. The electronics of these sensors are almost completely concentrated in an IC. The sensor displays AC and DC current of any wave form up to 100 kHZ and over. It requires only a unipolar 5-volt power supply and generates output voltage proportional to input current. Type X664 features an additional reference pin to connect, say, with the reference voltage output or input of an A/D converter.
In addition to Type T60404-N4646-X654/X664, there are three new compact type families for nominal voltages of 6 to 100 A and peak currents up to +200 A. They comprise devices for both unipolar +5 volt power supply with voltage output, and bipolar +/-12 to 15 volt power supply with current output. In addition, the company presents further sensors based on the same principle for continuous rms current of up to 700 A and peaks of up to +1250 A. VAC’s patented principle involves a compensation sensor with magnetic probe as zero field detector. The sensor is designed for PCB mounting and is also available in a paste-to-pin version for reflow soldering.
