DC-DC synchronous controller with output up to 25A 23-02-09

Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX15026, a DC-DC synchronous step-down controller capable of driving external MOSFETs to deliver up to 25A of output current. This device operates over a 4.5V to 28V input range, and it integrates a ±1% accurate voltage reference to provide an accurate output voltage from 0.6V to 85% of the input voltage. The switching frequency (200kHz to 2MHz), external compensation network, and current limit can also be adjusted to optimize designs for space, performance, and cost. The devices is dedicated for high-reliability applications such as telecom, networking, and server equipment. Concurrently, it is cost effective enough to be used in set-top-box and power-module applications.

The chip uses cycle-by-cycle lossless current sensing to reduce power loss and eliminate the need for an external sense resistor. Other features include soft-start, an analog-enable input, and a power-good indicator. The device also allows monotonic startup into a prebiased bus without discharging the output. The MAX15026 is offered in a thermally enhanced, 3mm x 3mm, 14-pin TDFN package, and is fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range. Prices start at $1.10 (1000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit is available to speed designs.
