Digi International takes over Rabbit Semiconductor 30-05-05

Digi International has bought the Californian Rabbit Semiconductor for 49 million US$. Rabbit was earlier named Z-World and developed processors, core modules and single-board computers under the “Rabbit” name. With 142 employees, Rabbit had a turnover in 2004 of 27.3 million US$ and a profit of 1.4 million US$. Digi manufactures embedded modules for industrial network solutions. In 2004 Digi achieved a turnover to the tune of 111.2 million US$ and a net profit of 8.7 million US$. In April 2005 Digi took over the Germany manufacturer of embedded modules FS Forth. In 2006, the Rabbit subsidiary is expected to add a turnover of 31 million US$ to the mother company .
