EDA medal 2006 awarded 23-05-06

Dr.-Ing. Peter Schwarz

The edacentrum has awarded the EDA medal 2006 to Dr.-Ing. Peter Schwarz. He received this in recognition of his life’s work in research and teaching in the field of Electronic Design Automation (EDA). Schwarz has worked at the Robotron Messelektronik Dresden, the Zentralinstitut für Kybernetik und Informationsprozesse Dresden and the Fraunhofer Institut IIS-EAS in Dresden. He has gained a high reputation especially in the fields of modelling and simulation of complex systems of electronic and non-electronic components. From these pioneer activities there emerged the first Mixed-Signal-Simulator KOSIM already in the past GDR period. In addition, besides the guidance of students and doctorates, Schwarz interested himself in the qualifications and re-employment of out-of-work engineers and the creation of multimedia learning modules. He is co-author of a textbook on the modelling and simulation of HF systems that appeared in 2005.
