Electronic Modules in Germany in the 3rd quarter 2008 18-12-08

Source: ZVEI

The forerunners of the financial crisis are not noticeable in the orders received by the manufacturers of electronic modules. This has been reported by the ZVEI-Association Electronic Components and Systems. The orders received by in-house producers as well as by Electronic Manufacturing Services Providers were 7.7 percent above those in the same quarter of the previous year. The export portion of the orders received was 20.2 percent. Sales showed a decline of 1.3 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year and the export portion of the sales was 19.4 percent. The Book-to-Bill ratio reached 1.04. Despite this indicator and the good business results thus far, the feelings of the companies are clearly dampened according to the ZVEI. According to a poll, more than half of those asked expect a worsened business climate in the next 12 months. This will probably be noticed already in the 4th quarter according to the ZVEI-Zentralverband Elektrotechnik und Elektronikindustrie [German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturer’s Association].
