Electronic Modules in Germany: second quarter 2008

The German manufacturers of electronic modules (In-House Manufacturers and Electronic Manufacturing Services Providers) were able to increase their orders received in the second quarter of 2008 by 0.6 percent and their sales by 1.4 percent compared to the first 3 months of 2008. This was reported by the ZVEI-Fachverband Electronic Components and Systems. In comparison to the second quarter of the previous year the orders received increased by 6.3 percent while the sales fell by 1.3 percent.
With 1.08, the Book-to-Bill ratio as an indicator of the medium term trend has been above the one mark for the past three quarters. The orders received, as well as also the sales, are buoyed by a growing export quota that reached a level of orders received of 20.3 percent and sales of 21.1 percent in the second quarter of 2008. The number of employees has increased by 0.3 percent since the first quarter.
