Embedded Award 2009 04-03-09

The following awards in three categories have been presented at the embedded world 2009 fair which opened on the 3rd of March in Nuremberg. The winners are Coverty in the Software category, Texas Instruments in the Hardware segment and Express Logic in the Tools section.

Software category

Coverty wins with its error recognition software. It makes it possible to check whether variable values can take on different values and therefore whether the associated process part can be fulfilled or not.

Hardware category

The “5er” family of the 16 Bit MSP430 Microcontroller from Texas Instruments receives the award in the Hardware segment. The µCs are distinguished by their low power usage. Thus, the modules have an energy requirement of 160µA/MHz and an idle current of 1.5µA

Tools category

The BenchX Eclipse environment from Express logic received the “Tool Award”. BenchX integrates all Toolchain portions for an embedded software development transparently.

university AWARD

The university AWARD is presented for an excellent student work on the subject of Embedded Technology. This year the prize was awarded to Joachim Blank from the University of Ulm for his Master’s work “Entwurf und Matlab-Simulation eines akustischen Modems zur Unterwasserkommunikation“ [Draft and matlab simulation of an acoustic modem for underwater communication].
