In its last business year, Agilent had a turnover of 5.1 b US$ and a net profit of 328 m US$. Compared to the previous year, the turnover remained constant and the profit was reduced slightly by 6%. The fourth quarter, with a turnover of 1.4 million US$ and a net profit of 26 m US$, contributed to the overall results. Here, the turnover was increased by 5% compared to the last year but the profit was reduced by 65%. In August the company sold its semiconductor segment for 2.66 b US$ to the investment houses Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR) and Silver Lake Partners. Furthermore, the shares in the light diode manufacturer Lumileds were sold to Philips for 950 m US$. Agilent wants to position itself in 2006 again as a pure instrumentation manufacturer.
