The IDEA (International Distribution of Electronics Association) is the worldwide umbrella organisation for distributors of electronic components and was founded in 1996. For the 3rd quarter 2007 the figures reported by the members show a differentiated development of the markets. Whereas Germany’s FBDi reports an almost unchanged turnover for Q3/2007 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the markets in the UK (AFDEC), France (SPDEI) Italy (ASSODEL) and Scandinavia (IM) show a marked downturn in parts with UK -6.4%, France -7.4%, Italy -2.9% und Scandinavia -7.5%. The biggest weakening was in semiconductors where there was a decrease of 5.9% for all member countries in Europe in comparison with the previous year. Germany showed a minus of 2%, France -10.5%, UK -10.2%, Italy -5.9% and Scandinavia -10.0%. Passive modules showed a decrease in sales in the reported period of 2.3% when compared to the same period of the previous year. Electromechanical modules, however, showed an increase of 2.5%. All member association of the IDEA, with the exception of the UK showed a plus for these modules: Germany + 3.3%, UK -0.3%, France + 3.7%, Italy + 11.6% and Scandinavia +2.1%. The accumulated Book-to-Bill-Ratio for IDEA was 0.98.
