Fortune Top 100: best American employer 2006 11-01-06

Those looking for a job with an American company in 2006 can look up the ranking of who are the best employers in the new Fortune 100 list. However, few companies in the semiconductor and electronic fields are represented this time. Qualcomm, specializing in network technology and communication solutions, is at place 26 (2005 ranking: 17). The software house Microsoft follows at place 42. At place 77 is the instrumentation company National Instruments. With a stable personnel strategy without redundancies it offers further training opportunities as well as social events. Place 83 is occupied by semiconductor company Texas Instruments and Intel occupies place 97. Pole position is taken by Gentech, a company in the bio-technology field.

What the employees in the companies in the listing appreciate especially were the health provisions, child care, support of a good work-life balance, the possibilities of telework from home as well as the granting of a sabbatical year.
