Freescale buys SigmaTel 05-02-08

Freescale will acquire SigmaTel, a provider of analog and l integrated circuits for the digital multimedia market. Under the terms of the agreement, Freescale will pay $3 per outstanding share of SigmaTel stock representing approximately $110 million in cash. The agreement is subject to various customary closing conditions, including all necessary shareholder and regulatory approvals, and is expected to close in the second quarter of fiscal year 2008. SigmaTel's target market segments include portable media players, printers and digital televisions. The revenue 2007 of SigmaTel was $127.1 million, with a net loss of $37.8 millon.
