Freescale: chief of Strategy and Business Development leaves 26-08-08



Sumit Sadana

Sumit Sadana, Freescale Semiconductor’s Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, gave notice that he has chosen to resign from that position effective in September 2008. In this role, he was responsible for Freescale's business, technology and manufacturing strategy, its overall business model, key investments, partnerships and alliances with responsibility for P licensing activities, equity investments, acquisitions and divestitures. In addition to this role which he has held since he joined the company, he was also the Chief Technology Officer for Freescale from January 2006 to June 2007. In this capacity, Sadana was responsible for a technology organization spanning process technologies like CMOS, SOI, embedded NVM, RF, MRAM, SMARTMOS mixed-signal technology, as well as packaging, EDA design tools and methodologies, silicon development tools, engineering compute infrastructure and so on, which together accounted for a third of Freescale's R&D investment. Sadana joined Freescale in December 2004 from IBM, where he served as vice president of IBM's electronic design technology solutions business.
