MicroSys extends its miriac MPX (SoM) module family by the MPX2020 CPU Module and introduces by that the Freescale QorIQ Multi-Core-technology for the MPX-interconnect standard. The SoMs are available for the extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The typical power dissipation in multi core operation for this module is less than 8 Watts.
In its initial version the module offers a QorIQ P2020 dual core CPU with e500v2 cores running @ 1,0 or 1,2 GHz. The CPU features a DDR2/DDR3 memory controller, three 1 GB Ethernet interfaces with IEEE Std 1588 TM precision time protocol option and interfaces like two Serial RapidIO®, USB 2.0, SD-Card and three PCI-Express I/Os. Typical memory is 2 GB DDR2-RAM and up to 512 MB NAND Flash. As additional I/O SPI-, I2C-, two SGMII- and four SerDes- (up to 3.125 GHz) interfaces are available.
The MPX CPU SoM is available now. Intial supported operating systems are Linux, Microware OS-9, VxWorks and QNX.
The physical dimensions of the MPX modules are 66 x 77 mm². The MicroSys standard includes the definition of the 2 x 208 pads to connect the SoMs to peripherals and system extensions. The elastomeric connector technology offers an easy means to stack extension modules on the front and back side of the SoM.
