Future Technology Devices International Limited (FTDI) announced the opening of their new R&D Centre in Singapore. Heading up the Centre is Dr. Antonio Alvarez, formerly general manager & senior director at NXP Semiconductors where he was responsible for NXP’s global USB and UWB development. He spent over four years as the product line USB/UWB general manager in NXP Singapore. He took charge of the complete value chain of USB devices from standardization to industrialization, for the entire North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific regions. Dr. Alvarez spent three years as the site director of Philips Semiconductors in Bangalore, India, where he was responsible for the business development. He also previously held various senior positions in STMicroelectronics.
