According to the Fachverband der Bauelemente Distribution (FBDi) [Trade Association of Component Distribution], the German component distributors achieved sales of 627 million Euro in the 2nd quarter of 2008, which, compared to the same period of the previous year, was a marginal reduction of 0.8%. The orders received position in the same period grew by 1.9% to 635 million Euro. The Book-to-Bill ratio, at 1.01 remained above the 1 figure for the fourth time.
Compared to the rest of Europe, Germany , together with Eastern Europe, continues to be in an excellent condition, states the Association. When seen according to product segments, the semiconductors with a growth of 0.7% achieved 443 million Euro but could not make up the decrease in the passive and electro-mechanical components – these passive devices dropped in value by 8.4% to 93 million Euro and the electro-mechanical ones decreased in value by 2.6% to 72 million Euro. There was growth in the sales of displays (+8.5%) and power supplies (+25.3%), but from a low level. The Book-to-Bill ratios in all product segments were positive in the 2nd quarter. From the sales distribution point of view the semiconductors reached almost 71% of the total sales, followed by the passives (almost 15%) and the electro-mechanical devices (11.5%).
The FBDi e.V. has 24 component distributors as members as well as some component manufacturers as promotion members.
