According to the FBDi e.V., the sales of the German component distribution market in the third quarter 2008 decreased by 4.8 percent to 606 million Euro (Europe -8 percent). The orders received were reduced in the same period by 10.8 percent to 582 million Euro. Whilst the semiconductor products decreased by 4.6% to 423 million Euro, the passive components fell by 7.9 percent to 92 million Euro. The sales of electro-mechanical components were -4.4 percent with approximately 71 million Euro. Only the category of “Other components” (displays, power supplies) grew by 12.4 percent. However, this increase had almost no effect on the overall statistics as they only contributed 3 percent to the whole. Semiconductors make up about 70% of the FBDi market statistics, passive components 15 percent and electro-mechanical approximately 12 percent.

According to their own estimates, the members of the FBDi represent approximately two-thirds of the sales volume of the German distribution market for electronic components.
