Weak but “not serious”

According to the latest statistics of the german Fachverband der Bauelemente Distribution e.V. (FBDi) of November this year, the turnover of the German components Distribution in the third quarter was down by 3.1% on that of the previous year. The turnover sank by 2% in comparison to the second quarter of the previous year. The Book-to-Bill rate with 1.01 was slightly in the positive region.

The total turnover of the distributors reporting in the FBDI in Q3/2005 was almost 491 million Euro (previous year: 506 million Euro). FBDI Chairman Georg Steinberger (Avnet) commented on the results as follows:“A minus of 3.1% in the last quarter and of 3.5% for the first nine months of 2005, although not a happy event but is not serious in view of the overall European situation.”

Semiconductors:     -3.2%

Passive components:     -6.2%

Electro-mechanical components:  +3.2%

Displays:     -16.0%
