According to the German ZVEI industry association, the German electrical industry was forced to face a decrease in orders. In October 2011 the orders received by the German electro industry was 6.5% below that of the level of the previous year. Local orders decreased by 6% and foreign orders by 7%. Cumulated from January to October this year, the orders received rose by 10% compared to the previous year. Local orders increased by 14% and foreign orders by 6% over the previous year.
In October, the price-adjusted production of the electrical companies grew by 6% compared to the previous year. In the overall time period from January to October 2011, the industry output was 5% above that of a year ago. The turnover of electro-technical and electronic products and systems was 3 % lower in October than the level of the last year. Profits increased by 8% in the first 10 months of this year.
There was a further decrease in the business climate in the German electro industry in November 2011, says the ZVEI. Both the evaluation of the current business position as also the expectations for the next 6 months have been lowered compared to October. 41% of the electrical companies estimate their current position as good or very good, 46% as stable and only 13 % as poor.
