German semiconductor distribution market in 2nd quarter 2009

The FBDI reports its members’ distribution sales in semiconductors at 424 m Euro in the 2nd quarter of 2009. In comparison to Q2/2008 the amount was reduced by 32%. The whole of the first half of 2009 ended with a reduction of sales of 29% to 906 m Euro. The orders received position is starting to stabilize at a very low level, the Book-to-Bill rate rose to 0.94. The cumulated drop in orders for the first 6 months of the year was -36%.
The product segments in Q2/2009 showed an almost identical downswing. Sales of semiconductors dropped by 33% to 294 m Euro. Passive components shrank by 30% to 65 m Euro and electro-mechanicals by 29% to 51 m Euro. Sales distribution also remained stable in the downswing – semiconductors amounted to around 70% of the total turnover, passives 15% and electro-mechanicals 12%. Other components (displays and power supplies), with about 3% of the total sales, played a subsidiary role.
