This year the German semiconductor market will grow by 8 % to more than 11 Billion Euro. In 2010 the German semiconductor market grew by 47.6% to more than 10.3 Billion Euro. The European market will show no growth in 2011. Worldwide, the turnover will rise by approximately 1.3 % to more than 300 Billion Dollars. This development will be supported equally by 10% growth of the automobile and industrial electronic industries.

With 37 %, the portion of the share of the automobile industry will remain constant in the German market compared to the previous year. Industrial electronics increases its market share by 1% point to 24 % and thus remains the 3rd largest market segment in Germany. With a turnover growth of 5% and a market share of 27% the data technology loses 1% of market share compared to the previous year.

The turnovers in the segments of communication technology as well as consumer electronics grow by 4 % whereby the communication technology is growing by 9 % and the consumer electronics with 3 % keep their share of the market constant. The regional distribution of the market shares has hardly changed in 2011.

The Asia/Pacific region retains its place as the region with the strongest turnover with more than 50% of the market of which China alone has almost the half. The portion of America in 2011 has risen somewhat whereas Japan’s share has decreased. With only a marginal increase, Europe continues to have the lowest market share.
