The ZVEI Fachverband Electronic Components and Systems have announced that the turnover of the German circuit board industry in the year 2006 will probably grow by 6% to 12.3 b Euro. In 2006 the growth of the industry will increase again after the dynamics in the year 2005 with 2.6% (on a Euro basis) were somewhat weaker.
The developments in the individual semiconductor product segments in 2005 in the local markets were uneven according to ZVEI: Whereas the integrated circuits had a plus of 4.5%, the segment for discrete modules, opto-semiconductors and sensors/actuators had a minus of 4.3% in total. For legal regions, these sectors may only be viewed together from 2005. For 2006 the remaining sectors of ICs and others are expected to show a plus of 7%. After an increase of 17% in 2004, the data technology increased by a further 13% in the past year. Correspondingly the market share increased from 31% in 2004 to 34% in 2005.
The second largest market share in Germany has again been in the automobile sector, which, according to ZVEI, slightly increased its market share with an increase of 4% to 29%. But the field of consumer products grew even stronger than the automobile sector by 11%. In comparison, the communication and industrial sectors each had a decrease of 8% in 2005. They achieved a market share of 22% and 12% respectively. An analysis of the years 2000-2005 shows that the automobile sector was the only one in which a positive average growth was achieved in Germany (plus 6%) and also in Europe (plus 11%).
