Heavy duty connectors with Push In connection 29-03-06

Weidmüller is presenting a new generation of heavy duty connectors under the name of RockStar. The series comprises 11 established sizes with a stainless-steel locking system as standard on each housing, a high-quality multi-layered surface sealing as well as lasered identification marking including the article number. In addition, these details mean there is no need for a special series of housings for corrosive environments.

Available in versions with protection class rating IP65 and IP69k these are the only housings to date world-wide that fulfil the protection class test in accordance with the North American standard NEMA 250-191, Type 4x. With integrated insulation strips, all housings are designed for high voltages. Five connection systems are available to meet type and application requirements: screw, tension clamp, Push In, crimp and axial screw. The inclusion of the Push In direct insertion connection system is also a first. All of the materials used for inserts and housings are free from toxic substances. The materials were chosen taking into consideration existing and planned international guidelines regarding toxic substances. The plastic materials used for the inserts fulfil international criteria for material approvals pertaining to the railway industry such as DIN EN 5510 Part 2, NFF 16-101, NFF 16-102, ASTM E 162, ASTM E 662 and Bombardier SMP 800C.

Depending on the range, RockStar is available with pole numbers from 3 to 216 poles, a rated voltage up to 1000 V as well as a current carrying capacity of 100 A – with and without a PE connection. The PE connection in Weidmüller’s heavy duty connectors is designed in accordance with DIN EN 60699-1 and DIN EN 60 947-1 specifications; that means that the PE connection has the same conductor cross-section as the ‘working connection’. The generation also includes the MixMate product ranges as well as the ConCept modular system. The MixMate ranges are equipped with both signal and power contacts. When utilising the ConCept system the user is able to create his own individual connectors. This system contains modules for connecting fieldbus and coaxial cables. The programme of heavy duty connectors is rounded off by an extensive range of accessories, connector kits and sets.
