Omron has extended its high-frequency relay series by introducing a new 25.6GHz coaxial model, capable of carrying 120W at 3GHz for mobile communications base station and antenna applications. The relays are single-pole, double-throw type (SPDT) and are offered in either latching or fail-safe, non-latching configurations. The fail-safe model requires 700mW (DC12V), whilst the latching version saves even more power because it requires only a set or reset pulse to change operating state. Consumption is 500mW(DC12V) in this case. Despite this, the relays are capable of handling output up to 120W at 20°C.
The devices are housed in a 34 x 13.2 x 37.8mm package. Performance is characterised by a combination of high isolation (55dB minimum at 26.5GHz) and low insertion loss, less than 0.8dB at 26.5GHz. Other HF characteristics include maximum VSWR of 1.7 and switching time lower than 15ms. However, an excellent 0.2 DB insertion loss at 1 GHz goes along with 85dB isolation.
