In order to address RF and wireless applications NIC Components Europe has introduced its NTL series of surface mount thin film inductors. Housed in case sizes of 0201, 0402 and 0603 the NTL series has a self resonant frequency (SRF) of up to 10GHz, current rating up to 1.8A, and a the Q-factor is up to 52 at 1.5GHz. Precision tolerances are between +/-0.1nH and +/-2% (depending on specific device). The devices feature an etched copper coil on an alumina substrate. Wrap around lead-free terminations with a nickel barrier make the NTL series compliant with RoHS legislation due to come into force in July 2006. All parts are supplied in tape and reel packaging making them suitable for automated pick-and-place assembly.
