GP Batteries has entered into a cooperation agreement with Amita Technologies and Welldone Company to set up a new company for the sales and marketing of high-power Lithium Polymer battery. Located in Taiwan, the new company, GWA Energy, will be engaged in product marketing, battery pack design and global sales management of high-power Li-Polymer batteries. GWA will be 37.5 %, 37.5% and 25% held by GP Batteries, Welldone and Amita respectively.
Amita of Taiwan was founded in 2000 and has developed key technologies and process system for the manufacture of high-power Lithium ion Manganese dioxide polymer batteries. Welldone, which has mass-produced high-power Li-Polymer battery packs for power tool and electric bike applications, has manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and Shanghai as well as the technical know-how to assemble the Li-Polymer battery packs and to incorporate charging protection circuits into packs. GP Batteries has been in the Lithium ion polymer business. It has manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and the Mainland China.
