Maxwell Technologies and Alcoa AFL Automotive started to collaborate on the development of a cold start system for the commercial transportation market. The companies will incorporate Maxwell's Boostcap ultracapacitors with AFL's power management system to develop an engine starting system. AFL Automotive, an Alcoa business, is a producer of electrical and electronic distribution systems for personal and commercial vehicles. Maxwell is a manufacturer of ultracapacitor cells, multi-cell modules and backup power systems.
