Mentor Graphics has taken over Volcano Communications Technologies (VCT), founded in 1998. The Swedish Volcano has subsidiaries in Tägerwilen, Switzerland and Düsseldorf, Germany. It develops design tools, software and test tools for automotive networks. Mentor intends to use this purchase to strengthen its presence in the automotive field. VCT is a private company with investment participation from Volvo Technology Transfer, Freescale and the Sixth Swedish National Pension Fund. The purchase price was not made public.
