Microchip Technology Acquires Hi-Tech Software 09-03-09


Microchip Technology a provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, announced it has acquired Hi-Tech Software, a provider of development tools for embedded systems based in Brisbane, Australia. Hi-Tech Software has been a premier third-party provider of C compilers for Microchip’s 8-, 16- and 32-bit PIC microcontrollers and dsPIC Digital Signal Controllers for over a decade.

 

The terms of the deal are confidential, and the deal is expected to be immediately accretive to Microchip’s earnings. The Hi-Tech team will now focus its energies exclusively on Microchip-related products. Existing support agreements for other products will be honored for the duration of those agreements.
