The Micron Technology Board of Directors announced that Steve Appleton, Micron Chairman and CEO, passed away on Friday February 3th in a small plane accident in Boise. He was 51. After that the company announced the appointment of D. Mark Durcan as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. Durcan will also serve as a Director on Micron's Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors also announced the appointment of Director Robert E. Switz as Chairman of the Board and Mark W. Adams as President. Switz has served as a Director since 2006 and is the former Chairman and CEO of ADC Telecommunications. He has previously served as chair of the Micron Board's Audit and Governance committees. Adams joined the company in 2006 and served most recently as Vice President of Worldwide Sales.
Durcan, 51, has served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Micron since 2007 and earlier served as Micron's Chief Technology Officer. He joined the company in 1984.
Micron Technology is a provider of semiconductor solutions. It manufactures a full range of DRAM, NAND and NOR flash memory, as well as other memory technologies, packaging solutions and semiconductor systems for use in computing, consumer, networking, embedded and mobile products.
