Mobile phone manufacture BenQ Deutschland insolvent 29-09-06

The manufacturer of mobile phones, BenQ Deutschland is insolvent. This company is the previous Siemens segment for mobile phone equipment, which has belonged to the Taiwanese BenQ Company for the past year. Promisingly it was said at the time: “The synergies that result from this partnership, as well as the high motivation of the employees on both sides, allows us to view the future with pride and trust,” (K.Y. Lee, Chairman of the BenQ Corporation). A total of 6 000 employees were taken over in the deal. For the Westphalian works in Kamp-Lintfort there was a site guarantee to the middle of 2006. This period has now elapsed. Now all the activities will be further carried out from Asia. A Total of 3 000 employees in Germany are affected.
