National Instruments announced the appointment of Phil Hester to the position of senior vice president of R&D. Most recently he was senior vice president and chief technology officer at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Prior to AMD, Hester served in a variety of management roles at IBM, including chief technology officer and vice president, systems and technology for the PC division at IBM, and general manager, systems and technology division.
As senior vice president of R&D at National Instruments, Hester will provide strategic guidance to the company’s 1,500 person global hardware and software development team. Hester succeeds Tim Dehne who left NI at the start of 2009.
