National Semiconductor closes Fab in Singapore and abandons MIL product line 15-07-05

National Semiconductor is to close its production and test facilities in Toa Payoh, Singapore. In the course of the next 12 months the production there will be transferred to the Fabs in Melaka, Malaysia, and Suzhou, China. This action is estimated to cost the company 27 to 30 million US$.  Later the savings should amount to between 4 to 6 million US$ per quarter. Approximately 950 employees are affected by the closing. National Semiconductor had originally planned a sale.

In addition, the company will transfer its logic modules for military space applications (Military B-Level) segment to ArrowZeus Electronics. These products will be supplied by the Arrow Electronics subsidiary from today. Other Analogue and Mixed-Signal Solutions for military/aircraft/space travel will continue to be provided by National.
