C&D Technologies, a producer of electrical power storage and conversion systems announced the appointment of Mr. Steve Heir to the position of Vice President, Business Development and Chief Marketing Officer. In this newly created role, he will have responsibility for global business development and leadership of C&D's strategic marketing activities. Heir was joining C&D in September of 2006. Prior to joining C&D, he held various global sales, marketing, and operations leadership positions with Exide Technologies (GNB Technologies), in both their Motive and Standby Power businesses. Earlier in his career, Steve served as the Sales leader for Crompton Eternacell, a manufacturer of primary lithium batteries for industrial and military applications.
