New VDE Chairman 20-11-06



Dr.-Ing. Hans Heinz Zimmer

From the 1st of January 2007 Dr. –Ing. Hans Heinz Zimmer will be the new Chairman of the VDE (Verband der Elektrotechnik Elektronik Informationstechnik e.V) [Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies in Germany]. The 55 year old succeeds Enno Liess who is retiring. After study and graduation in Electronics at the University Karlsruhe, Zimmer worked for ABB before he changed to VDE in 1990. From 1997 he led the department of "Equipment and Systems for House and Business" at the VDE Institute in Offenbach. He has been Deputy Chairman of the VDE since 2002 and had responsibility for the segment of Science, Training and Trade. The FBDI has 34.000 members and employs approximately 700 people.
