Nu Horizons Electronics, a distributor of active and passive electronic components, reported financial results for the first quarter of fiscal 2009. Net sales increased to $200,152,000 as compared to the prior year's fiscal period, an increase of 14.2%. Net income for the quarter was $1,155,000 as compared to net income of $1,688,000. Sequentially, net sales for the quarter increased approximately 3.3%, from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008. Sales in Asia grew 63%, compared to the same period in 2007, while sales in Europe increased 51%. Company's electronics components distribution business grew approximately 15% during the first quarter of fiscal 2009 to $185,922,000. Sales from systems distribution business grew 8.5% to $14,230,000.
