Maxim introduces the MAX4889B/MAX4889C, 1:2 or 2:1 PCI Express (PCIe) passive switches. The quad double-pole/double-throw (DPDT) switches are for switching four half lanes of PCIe data between two destinations. Four devices can be used to convert 16 PCIe lanes into two sets of 8 lanes for use with either SLI or CrossFire graphics cards.

The MAX4889C, due to its internal biasing resistors, also supports SAS I, SAS II, and SAS 6.0Gbps data rates. The chips operate from a single 3.3V supply, and are specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range. They are available in an industry-standard, 3.5mm x 9mm, 42-pin TQFN package.
