Philips semiconductor sold 07-08-06

For 8.3 b Euro, 80.1% of the Philips semiconductor shares have been sold to an investment group consisting of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., Silver Lake Partners and AlpInvest Partners NV. In August 2005, the two first-named companies had purchased the semiconductor segment of Agilent – the present-day Avago. Philips Semiconductor had a turnover on 2005 of 4.6 b Euro and employs 37,000 people worldwide.
